Sainsbury's Global Warming

For the sainsbury's Global Warmin brief we worked in groups we had to produce a bag for sainsbury's which was to promote global warming, I think doing the group presentation in the lecture theatre was very useful as it gave me an insight to what others had done. For example what brief they choose to do and how they went about doing it, also how many people had choose the same brief but there Ideas came out completely different.Having the judging panel was very useful as they gave us ideas on how we could have done the briefs different and how we can make our ideas better. They all had different views on the same pieces of work which I found really interesting. This was really useful to me and other people in the different groups as it gave me an insight to what I could have done for my brief and also for the other briefs as they could come in useful for the future. I think we could have made are bag alot better as i think it was to messy but it was the groups decision. I think are presentation was really good it was also different from the other presentations, for the presentation we went down to sainsbury's to ask the public what they think of the bag that we designed, i really did enjoy this.

For the second part of the brief we had to choose someone else’s work or even are own group work and work alone to make that piece off work better. I chose my own groups work because after looking at other people’s work I think we could of made are work a little more interesting. So I decided to go to Sainsbury’s to see what products they sell. I then took a few photographs of different products that I thought people would recognise and that could be related to global warming for example fox’s mints could be related as they use a polar bear for there logo, also I think the Toblerone and the Stella Artois would be noticed by the public as I think the have really good strong packaging and logo’s. Also a lot of the public like to eat and drink these types of products.

I then changed the Fox’s packaging by changing the name on the front but I changed it to relate to global warming, I recreated the polar bear logo to make it look as if it was in a melting iceberg, with the type on top of it saying clearly not better in stead of clearly a better mint, as the global warming situation is not getting better. I then changed the type Fox’s to Fucked but spelt Fukd so it would look more like the word Fox’s, the reason for me doing this is in the real world the polar bears are really fucked they are the most effected by it as there habitat has shown the first signs of global warming and because of this they will become extinct. I think the changes work really well as I think this will give the public the message clearly what is happening to the world., it also looks good and people find this funny the way that I have changed it.

The second product that I changed was the Toblerone chocolate bar, I changed the type to say too bloody warm as this looks similar to the word Toblerone. The reason why the word too bloody warm represents global warming is because the world is getting to warm. I think this looks really good as it looks like it says Toblerone but when you look closer and take more notice you realise what it really say’s . I have also changed the logo to look like chocolate melting to represent the words, it works well together.

The last product I done was the Stella Artois label as I thought men would take more notice to this label than the rest. When I began to change it I found it difficult to find words that could repent global warming that would look as if it was saying Stella Artois. I then decided for it to say still a state as it looked a little like the words Stella Artois, this means that the world is still a state because of global warming and not many people are doing much about it.
I think my ideas work really well and will grab the attention of the public as they will all recognise the product. I think they will understand what I am trying to get across but by using the things they like and recognise. I also think they look good as they are just done to look like packaging but with words changed. I have made them to look as if they are cartoons but the type is not. As I want this to be bold and stand out. I think this is why they will work on the bags as they will catch the public’s attention.
